Our 2023 Winning Pennant Teams

Our History

Established in 1995, Club Swan Golf was started by employees of the Swan Brewery in Canningvale on a nine hole golf course adjacent to the brewery that was designed and maintained by the inaugural members. Unfortunately, the course was temporarily closed in 2000 forcing the club to relocate to Rosehill golf course in the middle of the year.
The club returned to the Swan Brewery course in 2001 but this was short-lived as a member influx meant the 9 hole course couldn’t cater to all members. The decision was made to relocate again to Hillview in 2001 where we remain today. Since 2005, Swan Vale has seen a steady increase of members allowing us to have a 2 tee start Saturday mornings. Recently we have grown to around 80 members with an average group of over 40 players every fixture

OUR 2024 COMMITTEE

Scott Ward

President

Scotty is stepping into a new role this year after 2 years as Captain. The new president will be entering his 11th year at the club after a massive 2023. Winning the John O'Neil trophy which led into another pennant victory before taking out the Club Championship. Lastly he topped it off with the South West Cup. Good luck leading this bunch

Chelsea Ward

Vice President

Chelsea remains in the vice presidents seat for a 7th year on the committee in only 8 years at the club. 2023 was another good year with a second Diggers Cup victory which led into her second pennant victory for the club. Chelsea's year was topped off by taking out the Club Person of the Year.

Paul Jones

Treasurer

Entering his 23rd year at the club, Paul will be in charge of the money for a 7th year. It's a tough job as Jonesy is always the first guy there and last to come in. The former Club Person of the Year didn't have his best season with stick as he was travelling all over the world. Watch out for this lefty in 2024.

Jack Penkin

Secretary

Jacks back and he's stepping up into the Secretary role in 2024. This will be Jacks 9th year at the club and he's coming off a good year. I'm not just talking about his win and 2 runners up throughout the year, he avoided the Donders Award. Keep an eye out for the 2024 editions of Little Jacks Corner.

Ric Littlefair

Captain

The 'Make Ric the Skip' campaign payed off as he steps into the main role in his 3rd year on the committee. The most consistent player of 2023 when he started the year with 26 out of 27 rounds shooting over 30 points. A top 5 finish in last years Players of the Year and a Pennants victory showed a great year for the new skipper.

Daniel Lake

Vice Captain

The rookie of the committee is coming off another solid year. Entering his 10th year at the club, Daniel was named best player for his pennants team and is currently our back to back Player of the Year champion. The big Hagrid look-a-like is a fierce competitor on the course but a great bloke in the clubhouse

Ray Smith

Handicapper

Our main man Ray joins us for his 13th year on the committee in his 15th year at the club. It's hard to see past his friendly demeanour but there's a competitor in there which helped him take out the Matchplay competition last year. Ray was made a LIFE MEMBER of the club in 2021 and looks set for a big year.

Jan Pearson

Ladies Rep.

Jan is continuing her role from last year where should also ran the social committee. Heading into her 16th year at SVGC, it wasn't Jan's best year with the sticks, which can be forgiven with all the travelling she is doing. But Jan has been our go to girl for anything that needs done around the club which is why she was our Club Person of the Year in 2021

Dave Turner

General Committee

Dave returns to the committee for his second year in his 4th year at the club. After a great 2022 season, Dave struggled for consistency as he did some travelling throughout 2023. But that didn't stop this nervous rookie pennant champion take out his teams best player of the year.

Mandy Hellier

General Committee

Mandy joins the committee for the first time in her 5th season. Mandy had a solid 23 season with 6 top 4 finishes. After another solid showing trying to defend her matchplay trophy, Mandy took out the Captain's Cup later in the season. But her highlight of the year should be the pennants victory where she saved the team at Altone Park under heavy pressure.

Peter Evans

General Committee

This will be Peter's 24th year at the club having served in Vice President and Captaincy roles in the past. You can't keep a good man down and Pete is showing us what for as he walks the course on Saturday's at 80 years of age. This 3 time Club Person of the Year was made a LIFE MEMBER of SVGC in 2018.
