A Brief History

Established in 1995, Club Swan Golf (original Club name) was founded by
employees of the Swan Brewery in Canning Vale on a two tee nine hole golf
course adjacent to the brewery that was designed and maintained by the
inaugural members. Unfortunately, the course temporarily closed in 2000
forcing the club to relocate to Rosehill golf course in the middle of the year.
The club returned to the Swan Brewery course in 2001 but this was short-
lived as a member influx meant the 9-hole course couldn’t cater to all
members. The decision was made to relocate again, this time to Hillview in
2001 where we remain today. Since 2005, Swan Vale has seen a steady
increase of members allowing us to have a 2 tee start Saturday mornings.
Recently we have grown to around 90 members with an average group of
over 45 players every fixture. Competitions and social events are held
throughout the entire year.

OUR 2025 COMMITTEE

69980666-059E-4F38-A4A5-53333852877A_1_1

President - Dave Mattock

Dave Mattock is back in the top role for a 3rd stint after coming off his best season. Dave had 2 wins in 2024 and was part of the winning AGM Cup team. He won trophies for the best nett score and the Oh what a Feeling award. But I think his highlight would have to be leading Mattocks Marauders to a 3rd straight pennant title.

Vice President - Peter Evans

Proving you can't keep a good man down, Pete will be spending his 14th year on the committee after joining the club in 2001. When he's not galavanting around the world, Captain Pugwash is sorting out our trophies as he has for many years now. Peter has been voted best club person of the year 3 times and was made a Life Member of the club in 2018.

Captain - Ric Littlefair

It was Ric's first year in the captains chair and one of the biggest we've ever seen. A 3rd pennant and A grade Nett Club Champion was just the start. Then he took down his 2nd Player of the Year and topped it off with a deserving Club Person of the Year. Wild Swing will be on the committee for the 4th time in only his 6th year at the club.

Vice Captain - Chelsea Ward

Chelsea will be having a crack at the Vice Captain's role in her 8th season on the committee. Entering her 9th season at the club, the previous Club Person of the Year had a quiet season which is rare for her. Rowdy was still beating up the boys on her way to her 3rd pennant but couldn't manage a victory over the year. Expecting a big 2025 after a good finish to the season and improved driving.

Treasurer - Jack Penkin

It looked to be a big year for Jack as he smashed the competition in the Summer Cup but it wasn't to be as he earned his 5th Donders Award. Entering his 10 year at the club, this former Club Person of the Year is looking after the money in his 3rd season on the committee. Jack is a team game specialist with 2 AGM Cups to his name and helped his team to victory in the Irish Stableford comp in 2024.

Secretary - Karen Spinks

Karen returns to the committee after a 6 year hiatus and will be heading into her 13th year at Swan Vale as the Secretary. As soon as Kaz finds here swing again, she will be dominating the Par competitions having won both formats in the past. Karen is also completed the rare feat of winning back to back cup games when she won the Presidents Cups in 2013 and 2014.

Handicapper - Scott Ward

Scotty will slide into the handicappers role for his 4th year on the committee in his 12th year at Swan Vale. Scotty had a year to forget, only breaking his handicap once all year but it did get him the Diggers Cup. He did save his best for the pennant season with a club leading 5 victories to help win the club it's 6th pennant in 3 years. Expect this 3 time club champ to bounce back in 2025

Ladies Rep. - Jan Pearson

Jan will once again represent the ladies of our club for a 7th year as she enters her 17th year at SVGC. Jan had a great year with 2 victories including winning her 2nd Presidents Cup. JP was top 3 in average score and consistency over the 2024 season. The highs and lows have seen this SVGC champion take home the Dead Duck in legendary fashion and a worthy Club Person of the Year in 2021.

General Committee - Brad Holberton

This will be Brad's first year on the committee as he enters his 9th season at the club. This FIFO worker struggles to find consistency on the course but we've seen what he can do when playing week to week. Bradley has taken out the medal of medalists and been a Par champion. Watch out for great improvement if he can hit the correct fairway.

General Committee - Dominic McGowan

Dominic is one of 3 members who will be entering his 30th year at the club in it's 31 year history. Dom has dominated just about every trophy the club has had and was made a life member in 2019 after having served 13 years on the committee already. His playing highlights include 2 club championships, 8 eclectic wins, being an 8 time putting champion and 33 monthly medals ( 16 clear of the next best )

General Committee - Dave Turner

Returning for his 3rd season on the committee is quiet achiever Dave Turner. Dave will once again be handling our sponsors for the 2025 season. Dave has only been with the club for 5 years but has shown he's no slouch in the matchplay format as pennants rookie of the year in 2023. Dave will look to find that 2022 form that had him matchplay runner up and stableford champion.
